I was looking under my 82 regal, checking things over before taking it out for the first time this spring. I noticed that BOTH rear sway bar bolts were missing :eek2:! I towed it with a tow dolly to paint earlier this year, could that have caused it?? the bolts were torqued to spec. the spacers ,bolts, nuts all gone. the grade 8 bolts I can get at napa, but what about the spacers that go inside the control arm? where can I get a couple in a hurry??
I towed it with a tow dolly to paint earlier this year, could that have caused it?? don't see how. regardless, there's no harm in driving it with the rear bar disconnected. in a tight turn the car will tend more towards a 'push'/understeer action at a given speed which, for most drivers, makes the vehicle safer to drive (that's the way the factory designs the suspension geometry). unless you're autocrossing or something it's really not a big deal. but what about the spacers that go inside the control arm? you can't find any tube stock or all-thread with a large enough ID? cut your own....
I think I could find something in the plumbing dept in the hardware store to use for the spacers. what's odd is how both bolts fell out
Sounds like someone else needed a set, they don't loosen up while sitting let alone driving. Who stole my bolts man?? :blast:
