What gear raito?

    Hello all, what gear raito is this?
    The axle is a Canada 12 bolt in a 1969 GS 400 with an auto. trans.
    I know that it is a standard dif.
    The code is either LO,LD, what raito is this?
    I think it might be a 2.73 2.93 or 3.08
    just checking

    Well I can tell you there were no 2.93 gears in 12 bolt chevy type rears. 2.73 is very common for chevy but 3.08 was the standard in the grand prix rears with 12 bolts. So I would sway toward 3.08 on a guess with out number books to run that. I all the chevy type number books anything that ended in a d was a open diff. with 3.07 3.08 gear??? same different?? Just trying to help. Jim

    You can open the diff cover the fluid could probably use a change by now any way. If you spin the ring gear around wiping the outer diameter there should be numbers like 15 41 or 12 43 some thing likre that divide the small into the big and there is your ratio. Jim

    Cdn. built axle with a '69 GS400, auto.
    LD = 3.07
    No lising for LO. LQ is listed as a 3.73 posi..
