This was the first ‘71 GSX I remember seeing on eBay. What ever happened to this car? The description says it was rotisserie restored and sold for $100K, but does anyone know where it is today?
Yeah Rich Garland and myself looked at the car while it was in that condition. It was a Bittersweet Mist car if I remember correctly. I know that guy sold it, it was restored, and I believe it was in the line of "Concours" cars to be judged at the GSX reunion. I do not remember what award it would have received, as to be honest most of that day was a blur for me, I was so busy. I have not followed this car, and that was 10 years ago, so where it is today.......................... Duane
I was right, it was at the reunion and was getting judged. If you look at this pic it is the first car in the line up to be judged . The car is all the way to the left of the pic and is right up front. James Weinman took that picture, and Brad's car is all the way to the right, under the pavilion, so he got them all in there. What a great day that was, I still can't believe we pulled it off.......and by the way it was all Mark Macoubrie's fault. Duane PS. Does anyone have the pictures of the "Dreaded Seven"? We lined up all the 71 different colors available for a picture, including the Red & Black cars. The only one missing from the bunch was a White one. We had one there but the car was not finished and the Photographer would not put it in the shot.
George has a couple of photos of this car from the reunion. http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/GSXReunion.htm
Is this the same car that was later featured in Hemmings Muscle Machines? https://www.hemmings.com/blog/article/1971-72-buick-gsx/
There you go, the Dreaded Seven. That was the first time every standard color 71 GSX and both of the Special Order color cars were all in one place. What a day. Duane
Thanks everyone. Duane when you want to sell the X give me a heads up. I’ll need to sell a few dozen kidneys but we will work it out!
Ajesh tried to track it down for last years MCACN show and contacted several owners. I believe it has changed hands several times. It was the only color that was not represented there. I take that back, there is a green one lurking some where in Pennsylvania also.
