it roughly weighs 3,400 lbs in it's base equipment. Other options add some weight.

Nice! You can put a 350 in it OR you an put a 455 in with the same amount of work since your trans won't work.

I put a small valve 70 455 in one back in 1985 and it would FLY! Ran 7.80s in the 1/8th with 3.08 gears in 2nd gear. That is with the same motor I later installed it in my 70 GS after my brother's brother in law crashed it. In the GS it only ran 12.46 with 3.73 and turbo 400.

The great thing about the 75-79 Skylarks is they share a very similar subframe to the same year Camaros & Novas so things like sway bars, rotors and such are direct bolt ons. I put a Trans Am front sway bar on mine.

Also, I was able to put the Kenne-Bell A-body 455 headers on it without requiring any clearances. I suspect the 350 headers would most likely fit as easily. All you need is a set of steel frame mounts from a big car, Electra, Le Sabre, etc. I put the frame mounts onto the block, dropped it into the frame, mated it to the trans, squared it up with a level then sprayed white spray paint all around the frame mounts. Voila! white spots to drill to mount the frame pads.

Since my car was originally a Buick V6, everything pretty much lined up with very little tweaking. I even used the V6 trans and converter. All I had to do was alter the top bracket for the alternator/air conditioning and it all worked.

    Thanks for the info guys.

I was hoping it was lighter. I don't think I will get the car, I have my twin turbo 70 skylark, 75 regal, and some other cars and trucks so it's tough to find time for them all.
