Hey guys (and gals) got a question for you.......I bought a dash pad off a member here (very nice one too, member and dash pad for a 66 Skylark. My question of the day is : Although nice, this is a 44 year old piece of vinyl. What do you guys use on your old dash pads to condition them so that they won't get brittle and crack? I've heard everything from vaseline to Avon Skin So Soft, so what say ye??? :idea2:
Don't use armor all...it collects heat and causes cracks, I believe that some of the PH balanced treatments such as vinylex work the best. Mike
Thanks Mike.....Has any one used Aerospace 303? We use that on the rubber and vinyl on our Tacoma and HHR, seems to do well. I wonder how it would do on old vinyl? Anyone use it?
I wash it up with a mixture of Murphy's Oil Soap and water. Then, finish the job with some lemon pledge. Comes out awesome. Don't spend any money. You probably have all that stuff in the cabinet already.
I already cleaned it with Murphys Oil and water......That is funny you should say that about the furniture polish, I have used that on my shoes since Jr. High school. Does a great cheap job!! Thanks for the tip, I'm think I'm going to either use the Pledge, or the 303.....Maybe both
Looks like it's the old Pledge trick for my dash! if it's good enough for you guys (and 42 years worth of shoes) it's good enough for me! :beer
Hey, I can clean a mean toilet. Just as Jen. ou: :TU: But she mostly keeps me around for lawn care and vehicle maintenence though.
Why would I clean windows or toilets? That's what the wife does when I release her from her shackles once a week. uzzled:
