I found this on ebay and it looks close to a match for the driver's side on my 71 Riv. This is not a show car, but a nice car that is driven often. A Pass. side mirror would really help in traffic and I have had no luck finding an original. I actually bought one of these for my 76 Electra, BUT I had to use an old mirror post I had off an original buick mirror. The post on it is one inch shorter, and it hits the side mirror when installed. For me the angle was all messed up until I changed the post and used the right door gasket. The gasket on mine is about 1/4 inch fatter than the one you get with the mirror. Changing the post was a huge pain because it's very difficult to get the adjuster end off in one piece. However, the mirror is decent quality the chrome is nice and it looks pretty good on the car..It also matches the original quite nicely. Just needs to be tweaked to work.. I am not for sure about a riv, but I don't believe it will work for you right out of the box, because of the mirror post and the gasket..Let me know if you need any more info..
Thanks for the input. I figured someone on here knew something about these. Now my problem would be finding a post for the Boattail!
To bad it's passenger, I have a yard near me with a rotting 74 electra with a passenger mirror, but it has a chip taken out of it..However if you need a gasket I could get that..You would just have to let me know the thickness of your driver one..
