I finally popped the air cleaner off of my Rivi, and found that someone had replaced the carb with a very clean Holley that runs fine, but they removed the correct steel fuel line, and replaced it with rubber hose and a canister fuel filter.
The exhaust has been changed to two long cherry bombs that function fine, and have a very mean sound.
If I could find a '68 good running carb, fuel line and vacuum fittings for a reasonable price, I'd prefer to put it back to stock. The exhaust is definitely pleasing, and the Holley is probably giving me some extra power.....What do you think? Dan

I say if it works leave it. Unless your're the kind of guy that wants to have it as close to original as possible.

Hey Dan.The less rubber hose you use pump to carb the better!! You may want to plumb up a steel line if you can.Later,Tony.

In my opinion the Holley carbs are a piece of crap, they only seem to well "work" when they are new and I have never had one that worked long if it ever did.Go back to the original and you will probably increase your mileage too.

    If it ain't broke...

You can easily bend a steel fuel line, using patience.
I don't really care for Holley (put one on my car). Mileage will be better with a Q-jet.
If you like how everything works, though, why not leave it.

Save your $$$ for a rainy day. If it would have been me, I would have picked up an original carb the day I stumbled on it.

If you plan on keeping the car for the long haul - then find the Correct carb and line and put it on the shelf. They're only gonna get more expensive as time goes on and this way you have them if you want them, or can always sell them a few years down the line if you change your mind ... and make a few bucks at the same time.

Hmm... You could probably buy a Q-jet and rebuild it yourself, then sell the Holley for more money than the Q-jet cost.
