What disks will work?

Other than the obvious (ie other A-bodies with disks) what other cars with disks up front would be suitable to use on a 71 skylark? I have been told that chevy monte carlos, some novas, s10 trucks, chevelles, etc, etc would work. What has been your experience? would it be just as easy to go with an aftermarket disk conversion?

One last question: I know it may be a dumb one but here goes. If I were to go with an aftermarket kit (such as one of the kits Summitt offers), where would I go to get replacement pads? Is it something that would have to come from the supplier of the kit or could my local auto parts store help me out?

    Thanks in advance

    70-81 camaros bbody (impala,delta 88)
but a kit would be easiest and cost close to the same
after you get new calipers/rotors/pads and the matching ball joints needed
    for some swaps

I have a list of cars that are interchangeable for disc brake swaps. Aside from the obvious 64-72 a-bodies, also 67-69 camaro and firebird, and 68-74 nova, venture, apollo and omegas are all interchangeable. The S-10 only works if you swap upper and lower ball joints and outer tie rods.

So Im looking around, and didnt notice something directly related to my question. I found what Im sure is parts that are good for cores at least. I found someone selling all the power disc brake stuff from a '71 Riviera. I have a '70 Skylark. Are these brake parts interchangeable? Thanks in advance!

no the riv brakes wont work well on a skylark
    find a 77 up impala/caprice/delta88 or 98/lesaber ,parkavenue/parisseaine
    maybe even the caddys
70-81 camaro/firebird stuff works but there is some hangup i dont recall
you will need special balljoints and tierod bumpsteer adjusters for either
or just get brakets for your spindles and rotors

Seems like the best bet is to just buy a complete kit thats new, like the one listed above on ebay. Saves the hassle and scrounging for parts. Thanks! Back to stuffing pennies into the bank for the kit.... :idea2:

I went with a kit from ebay. The seller was 60 to 0 brake systems. I think I paid about 700 for the power kit with spindles, rotors, bearings, seals, calipers, hoses, booster, master, prop valve, and front end rebuild kit. I put most of it together today and it was easy, everything fit really nice.
