I recently started ordering my interior for my 71 Skylark. In the different catalogues I've seen Pearl White and White listed as colors. Some show pearl as being the darked of the two, others white as being the lighter color. I received some of my stuff (72 White color) and it is more of a tan. I thought I saw a Pearl White interior which looked more like the color I have with a "pearl" effect on the vinyl. Is there a true "white" white for a factory color or are those aftermarked colors? My seats are a true white color (previously recovered whoknows where) and are in perfect shape and I wanted something to match closely. Thanks for the help guys. Bill
White is not white as you think. If you have white, used SEM Super White vinyl dye. It has a tan tint to it. So it will look correct. #15103
My understanding is that 71 white and 72 white DO NOT match. The 72 has a eggshell color to it (slightly tan) but the 71 white is more of a true white. I'm not talking pearls here, either. The dye George mentioned is a very good match for my 72. o No: Be aware the dye seems to vary can to can slightly so keep that in mind (I did most of my pieces with the one that was off then did the final coat with the perfect match, that way you don't run out of the one you really need!!!LOL). I've also seen 72 cars with perfect white interiors...the 71 style does match so its possible to buy 71 covers and panels and put in 72 and vice versa except for the 72 custom which had the woodgrain and carpet...it all gets rather confusing.
