i installed a 3.73 rear gear and am curious what color or tooth # i need. i have a th350 with stock tires. thanks alot.
Not enough info. Need the rear tire size(off the sidewall), and the number of teeth on the speedo DRIVE gear(on the output shaft) If you take out the driven gear and sleeve, you can see the drive gear. Rotate the driveshaft, and carefully count the number of teeth on that gear. Then post back.
the speedo drive gear is green (9 teeth?), the tires are 225/70/15. i put a 3.73 gear in the rear end. what color or tooth # do i need? thanks.
This site is easy to use. http://www.tciauto.com/tech_info/speedo_gears.htm Your 225/70-15 tire is 27.4" tall. With a 9 tooth green gear, you would need a 25 tooth driven gear. Problem is, they don't make one. So, you will have to change the drive gear also. It's very easy, they slide on with a clip. If you change the drive gear to an 8 tooth gear(orange), a 22 tooth driven gear(gray) will work. With a 7 tooth gear(pink), a 19 tooth driven gear(natural) will work. Click on the above site for part #'s. TCI sells the gears. You may also be able to get them from GM.
