I'm interested in replacing the stock quadrajet carb on my 1966 buick wildcat with a 425 nailhead. The engine is totally stock and a strong runner. I've looked at edelbrock 600-750 cfm carbs. Does anyone have experience with this swap?

    also: any linkage issues?

The Rochester Quadrajet for the 66 425 was #7026240. It is the 'spread bore' design, which means the secondary barrels are much larger than the primaries.
There was a Rochester '4-jet' used on some 401's in 1966, and a Carter AFB....those were both 'square-bore' design with secondary and primaries being close to the same size.
The Edelbrocks are also square-bore design, so they will not fit your Q-jet intake.

Send yours to Cliff Ruggles on here who wrote the book on rebuilding those. Yours is a better carb. It just needs attention to bring it back to spec.

well- I contacted cliff's shop and he's six months out on a rebuild. Unfortunately I need my car now (ish). Do you know of any other good quadrajet rebuilders?

Try Jim Weise the owner of this Board. He has done a number for me. Untill you get one properly rebuilt you cannot appreciate the difference it will make.
