What kind of things can I get for my '61 skylark 215 and where can I get them? I'd like to find stuff like manifolds, headers, a new 4bbl., dress up parts, a manual tranny, you name it. What things from other vehicles will fit ? All the other cars I've worked on were little british cars and I didn't do any engine mods just restoration of original. Any ideas or pointers or advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Mark

    Your in luck!

    Hi Mark,
The Buick 215, has been used in the UK by Rover / British Leyland for about 30 years and is still in production in Land rovers and Range rovers. A 5.o litre version of the engine is also used by TVR who produce sports cars in the UK.

Main thing is that there are many aftermarket tunning parts available in the UK and US for these engines.
things that I have come across :

    (the 215 is 3.5 litres)

    stroker kits 4.3 litre conversion
    stroker kits 4.8 litre conversion

Child & Albert alluminium con rods

    forged flat top pistons

    roller rockers

many different intake manifolds available (for nitrous, turbos and blowers)

    steel timing gears (no chain)

lots of chrome rocker covers and shiny bits

    electronic and dual point distributors,

    headers, different types, shorty etc.

    ARP head studs.

    Lots of stuff,

    do a search for
    J E Engineering,
    Rimmer brothers,
    real steel,
    TVR,
    and Rover V8
there is a rover v8 forum with lots of info on it.
Also a lot of parts are interchangable, mostly timming and valve train, but not all, there are other threads that go into this in more detail on this forum, good luck, cheers Louis
