It's worth so much because "this is the condition I found it in". Oh well, gotta love America. I'm sure it will get a lot of hits just from curious folks who think maybe it's a Convertible that has 10000 miles on it and has been in a heated garage for 40 years.

Their was one last month for sale in washington somewhere. I wounder what my 71 would be worth to this guy its only 1 of 103 :Brow: .

Ther was a guy on the east end of long island with a pair of these (one 1961 and one 1962) in really nice original shape. He had them for sale for a long time, until about 2 years ago when he finally sold them. For the longest time he couldn't give them away at $2500 a piece and they were much better than this car on ebay. Same body style Tempests don't even pull that much and they are more popular than the skylarks.

    Skylark

I'll give my thoughts on this. This guy is not a car guy, it isn't a Chevelle or a GTO and he's not seen this body style before. It MUST be rare. LOL

I don't even think it's a Skylark. Looks like a Special (post)... I think he bought this at a local swap meet (Monroe), at least it looks like the same car. That guy wanted $4K for it, and I thought that was much too high for the condition that it was in.

I like the air freshener in the trunk. Three months ago I could have gotten a 62 conv. for $700.Was in about the same condition.....I turned it down..the guy sold it for $1500.I can only imagine what he would want for that mini import pick-up in the pics. You don't see those everyday either.

For 1961, the Skylark came out as a 2 Door Post, in 1962 it went hardtop - I had almost a twin to that one, it was a solid # 3 car and I sold it a few years ago for $4500 - I have seen some of the 61 & 62's that were mint(talking senior type cars) go around $15K, I have also seen converts go for around $20K - Old Cars Price Guide lists a #1 61 Skylark at $18K, 62 @ $17.5K & a 62 Convert @ $26K - so the market is out there for NICE ones. # 3 on a 61 Skylark is $7,200 # 4 $3,800 - While these cars maybe don;t appeal to the performance orieted fellows on this board, there is a a building following for these little gems. If you havn't driven on of these "mini Electra's", try them out - they are really supprising little cars.

I stand corrected, thanks. They are neat little cars, I am planning on getting one someday, they are really a bargain now. However, I still don't think it's worth more than $3K if it's the same car that I saw. $.02

I just heard from a buddy that it is in fact the same car from the swap meet.... they were asking $6500.

Thats a nice mark up. However it looks like he will have to keep his new toy or step down off his high horse and come to reality. But hey I guess it was worth a shot you never know inless you try.
My girlfriend wants one of these also but she decieded it would have to be a convertible. So their may be one of these in the garage in the future.
