wondering if you guys know of any good car magazines like "muscle car review" and "street and strip supercar" was back in the 80's. are there any good magazines like this anymore? bob
do a search, there should still be some kind of post on this subject after the summer meltdown. if not, i might suggest MuscleCar Enthusiast [Amos publishing]. Primedia [the same folks who bring us hotrod and carcraft] puts out an issue of MuscleCar Review every couple months. Hemmings motor news puts out one called Muscle Machines. the AMCA puts out one for members called American MuscleCar Magazine. every once in a while, i will cruise ebay for old copys of muscle car magazines. they are usually in pretty good shape, will usually go for only a couple bucks, and rereading some of the old copys is pretty interesting. :Brow:
I sort of like Car Craft. They have some how-to articles that are a lot better than the "what to buy" articles that many magazines have in them. Some of them are just a book full of ads that you pay for with a few over-done cars in between! I have a few VERY old Hot Rod magazines sitting around and they are nothing like todays! One has a dyno thing on a small block Mopar and they did MORE parts changes and posted the HP and torque with every change till the hurt the motor! Then they went in and beefed up the bottom end and kept playing some more! You'll never find info like that in the newer mags unless they are installing something that they run an ad for! Ken
IMO Hemmings Muscle Machines is the best mag I ever read. The writing is actually meaningful and not the filler most mags are full of. They cover a broad range of old and new american cars and trucks. The subscription is a steal at a buck an issue for a year.
Muscle Mags Hemmings Muscle Machines is a great magazine, really good taste, super articles, great writers, they pick some great and not your everyday cars. Oh yeah, they put my 79 LeSabre Turbo SportCoup in their July issue. Dean
Old Magizines Any one remember the old BOP ( Buick, Olds, Pontiac ) magizine ? It was a great read. Lasted about three years. The good ones never last.
I agree...It was the best magizine about GM Muscle cars...but now gone. I can't find it anywhere!! o No:
Best modern one has to be Hemmings Muscle Machines. It is really unlike the others, it seems to be truely unbiased between 60s, 70s, and 80s cars (finally a magazine that doesn't use the terms disco, John Travolta, and jumpsuits to describe 70s cars, hey there some of the people that read these magazines that own or owned and liked the cars you attack). Plus it is amongst the few that thinks it is idiotic that classic sh*vys are so damned expensive compared to other muscle cars. They read my mind on so many points!! Viva Hemmings Muscle Machines!!
