    Hi folks,

I was "yarding" yesterday and today, and "scored" 3 alum/front drums from 68-69 LeSabres. They are 12." I think they were used on 66-70 Big Buicks, and Some Caddys from the same year. I will check them w/ a brake micrometer tomorrow, but after looking at drums for 35 years I know that 2 have plenty of "meat" and only the 3rd is questionable.

I don't want to take advantage of anybody, but I bought them cuz I know they ain't making any more of them, and they are not available new.

I know that nobody is "giving these away," but what would be a "fair" price (I know that it depends on how much "meat" is left), or the average price range, for these drums?

I would like someone here on the Board to get them, who can use them, before I put them on EBay.

    Thanks!

    Best,

    Hi folks,

Well, I guess they aren't worth anything; somebody must be reproducing them.

I will just bring them to the recycling center and have them weighed for their value in aluminum--prolly get $3.00 each or more. Thanks, anyway!

eBay is about the best place to go with these, because the "rod" crowd buys them for the looks.

A decent set in my neck of the woods bring about 50.00 each.
Some of the guys are useing them on the open-wheel roadsters and I think they actually are kinda cool.
Now if someone really needed one I suppose it could fetch 100.00 or so on e-bay.

    Hi folks,

Thanks for the replies; they did look a little too pretty to melt down! I will clean them up, "mike" them, and put them on E-Bay. Thanks again.

If you can find someone local to cash and cary thats the best route. Shipping cost due to the heavy item scares a lot of people away on ebay. I've seen prices all over the map from zero bids with a $50 min for a pair up to selling for $150 a pair. find out the stock spec and meausure them and verify if they have been cut. If they are still at stock diameter spec, use that as a marketing tool.

OEM diameter is 12". Normal oversize is .060", but can go to .090". At one time .125" oversize linings were available to bring them out to .125", but they aren't anywhere to be found.
