I am attempting to bleed the hydraulic pump on my 72 GS convertible. I removed the back seat only to discover that someone who owned the car before me installed two 20 ounce speakers through the two holes in the rear seat support on either side of the pump blocking access to the pump. The speakers were mounted from the direction of the trunk so I think I need to remove the well liner to gain access to the speaker mounting screws, but cannot figure out how to remove the liner. I have looked in my Fisher body and chassis manuals and was unable to find anything. I also performed a search of this website and again found nothing. Any ideas on how to remove the well liner and if that is a tough or tricky thing to do? any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Randy,

Supposing that there's not too much difference between the A body and C body...
if you have the back seat out, there' the trim piece that holds the vert boot on....there's about 4-5 screws that hold that to the back frame of the seat mount. Take that off. and that should release the front of the well liner. Hopefully enough to get to the pump behind the seat.

Just did that last summer on my 225, to change out the rubber bushings, and replace a top cylinder. Wasn't too bad.

    Hope it works for you!

    Hey Larry

Thanks for the reply and suggestion. I will give it a try later this week or maybe this weekend. I am always learning with these cars and right now I am way behind the learning curve.

    Take care!

You should be able to do all this through the trunk, without removing the well liner at all, no?
(Been a while since I had a 'vert)

I have speakers there in my '70, from the factory

The well liner is stapled to the trim stick, just like the top and window

You should be able to just push the well liner out of the way
