Weird Rear Axle ID SS?

    I was checking the rear axle code on my 71 Skylark & found SS 0175 stamped on the passenger forward side of the tube. I have checked it a few times including on a lift & can not find any listing for SS in any year? It is a 8.5 inch 10 bolt rear, anyone ever see an SS stamping?

    Looked thru my Hollander and the only SS I found was for 71 and 72 Oldsmobile A body. It says its a 3.08 posi if its a SS.

    Thank you, it definitely is an SS, I am pretty sure it's a posi too.

    Yes That is correct. Olds and Buick rears were shared under each other. More the olds sharing the Buick then the other way around. Could have just been transplanted which is probably what more less happened. Jim
