Water pump

    ups just deliverd my water pump 1971 GS 350. from cars now the question is
    what color is it supposed to be? the new one is cast alum so was the old one.I never gave it much thought before. if I leave it the way it arived the what color is the bolt heads? trying to stay oem so lets heare it from you guy's

    i painted the housing buick red.

    Someone else posted this question not too long ago

    consensus that the assembled block, including the distributor, water pump, fuel pump, throttle cable brackets and return spring bracket, choke assembly were all red.

    The distributor and the fuel pump just had red overspray on it, not completely painted.

    ok I talked to a guy I worke with in the past and he has worked on alot of buicks the water pump is red from the factory if its cast or silver its been replaced. he thinks he remembers replacing the pump on my car when the dealer owned it . cust owned it for 1 or 2 years traded it in and the dealer kept it untill I bought it

    Use some self etching primer on it first or the paint will peel. Been there.
