Might be needing a water pump for my 56 Special.
Any recommendations where to get one?
Any thing besides xray vision to tell if pump is
doing what it is supposed to without removing it?
Also thinking about a new radiator.
Any substitute modern radiator that would give improved
cooling and not look too out of place?
    Thanks

When the engine is at running temp slowly pull the rad. cap and shine a light in there and see if you can see flow. Good as a first check.

NAPA.com will surprise you at the items the have. I bet they have one.

Have you looked into having you radiator recored by a good radiator shop? Sure helps not having to get different hoses, mounts etc.

    Radiator

Will try your suggestion on the pump.
Promise me I won't get burnt!
Did get good recommendation from a local guy on Carmen Faso listed
above in the parts supplier section as a scource for a pump.
Anyway, found out from previous owner that a new water pump
was put in not too long ago. He said nothing done to radiator so
will probably at least have it removed and rodded out if not too bad.
Or recore it. Might be easier than overall than trying to adapt generic one.
Also think my heat riser on the passenger side exhaust might be sticking
and previous owner confirmed that it needed freeing up once in a while.
Might be another cause of my overheating problem. So that would be an
easy fix. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Running cool now!

Got the 56 back from local shop.
Cooling good now. Turns out the radiator was pretty plugged up.
Lucky I think that the owner/mechanic also is a good radiator man
and was able to find and put a new core in it. The new core is a little
thicker too so should not have any future problems at least with the
radiator. On to the other stuff to fix.
