I have a 70 GSX and the time had come to replace the overflow and the washer bottle, I got the overflow from the board vendor, excellent piece of work by the way :beer So, I order the 70 GS/Skylark washer bottle from the Parts Place, what comes in is different than what I have. My car has the bottle that slips into the metal bracket. What I get is different so I call The Parts place and they tell me that the bracket one I have is not correct, the one they sent is the right one for my year and vehicle. OK, fine.... My questions are: 1. Did some 70's come with the Bracket type that I have and mine was one of those few... o No: 2. If No above, to make my car "correct", how do I mount the new one because I have no holes in my fender drilled and there's no obvious spot where it goes without getting out my drill. In fact, by looking at some pictures it seems to mount kind of tilted.... o No: Thanks Guys
No 70s came with the washer bottle with the bracket. Yes, it is mounted at a funny angle. There may be little dimples in the inner fender where the holes go. Mounts with 2 1/4" head sheet metal screws.
'70 assembly manual shows that some cars (w/ NA-9 option) did have the w/w fluid jug mounted in a bracket like the 71-72's We have a -70 Skylark parts car from California and it has the jug mounted in a bracket and a charcoal cannister, too.
California GSX 70 GS cars with California emission option had the washer bottle mounted on the fender with a bracket, just like the 71 GS. The reason was that the charcoal cannister took up the space on the inner fender.Take a look at John Arangio's GSX that is in the November issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines. His car came from California originally. You will see the proper mounting of the washer bottle.
Now I'm totally confused..... How do I know if my car had CA emissions o No: I do have that charcoal canister and that's why I was saying there's no obvious spot to mount it. I see those "dimples" on the inner fender, but when I put the bottle over them as if I were to mount it, it hits that charcoal cannister  Maybe my car came with the bracket type.... VinMan out....
If you have the charcoal cannister, you have California emissions. That's what it is The bracket type will be correct for your car
