I placed a bid on this Wagon last time it was listed and noticed the person who was bidding against me dropped out when it reached reserve. Feeling this person was a SCHILL I immediately retracted my bid.

It has been relisted and has been driven up in price by that same person........READ both their feedbacks, their in cahoots with each other.

This morning I got an E-Mail from a E-Bayer who said that the BIDDER and SELLER are one and the same.......THOUGH SO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ebay has a problem on their hands.
They always advertise "DO NOT BUY OR SELL OUTSIDE E-BAY",
But reality is when there is a problem there is not much they
    can do about it!!!
All of the vehicles and big ticket items that have no reserve on them,
have someone bidding to make sure the car sells for what they want.
Put your car on e-bay with no reserve---absolutely SILLY--- :spank:

    I disagree...

Put your car on ebay and begin bidding at the least amount you will accept, if not, place a reserve. :bglasses:

    Sorry,
    Let me clarify!!
Start bidding at $100.00 on a $10,000.00 car and advertise
    NO RESERVE------------that is nonsense.
Then when someone is high bidder at $6500.00 and should have won
the auction-------------next thing it appears for sale by same seller
a month later-----------SAME THING ALL OVER!!!!!! :Dou:

when its a no reserve auction, how does the seller get out of paying the Ebay fee on the Shill's high, aution-ending bid ???

the linked auction was ended early. seller cancelled all bids stating item no longer for sale.

re: post 5, some ( many ) sellers will cancel bids and end it early if they are'nt getting the price they want. in most cases its fee avoidance which is against the rules, but dont look for ebay to crack down on it any time soon. those listers ( cant really call them sellers ) do pay listing fees, so ebay is making some profit from them, so they seem to turn their head.

alan, there are a couple ways to avoid that. seller pretty much needs to cancel the shill bid before EOA, shiller would need to retract, or else the shill needs to use a throw away ID so lister can file UPI. otherwise, he will need to pay fees.

to shill an auction, shill bids may need to be cancelled, or retracted, since a shiller can become high bidder at any time.

the most blatant, obvious cases are often when someone outbids a legitimate bid, exposing that persons max, then retracts, then rebids just under that persons max. these cases could conceivably be just a trouble making bidder also, but thats not likely. in any case, more good arguments for sniping. ( oh geez, i used the S word )

ebay can compare any users contact info to try to identify a shill, but they dont always catch it.

in the above auction, fb indicates that one bidder never purchased the car he won, yet the lister has allowed him to bid on this car. i find that very interesting.

the above scenarios are of course hypothetical, about ebaying in general. i am not accusing anyone of anything, or implying any wrong doing.
