Hi new to the site, guys in other thread said to try here. Have a 54 Buick special, and I am not sure what engine it has, it is not original to this car, but came out of another buick special. From reading, there where two engines available, the 264 or 322.

The numbers off of the engine by the distributor are 11-5752 and 1163200-3 off of the intake manifold.

    Any help appreciated.

According to the '55 Service Manual, the last digit in the engine number indicates the series in which it was installed. A "4" would indicate a series 40, Special. In '54 and '55 that would be a 264 c.i. V-8 in '56, it would be a 322. The engine number is located between the center "branches" of the left exhaust manifold, on the cylinder block deck surface, adjacent to the cylinder head. If the last digit is a 5,6,or 7, then it would indicate a 322 c.i. V-8. This is the only quick way I know of. Z-
