I am in search of a 1968 Skylark GS400 black interior(bench seat), prefer black exterior but can paint. I have the 400 stage 2 engine and trans from the car we raced in '68/'69...(about 100 miles on it 1/4 mile at a time) in E/SA that I would like to recreate. if you have a restorable body/chassis/interior let me know. Pics of the original car at www.fisherclassics.com under "We Raced"
Welcome to the board:beer ...Great pics and wonderful story, tell us more and please post more pictures if you have them...What happend to the car?..Was this a 4spd or auto...If you need a body the boys here will find you one...Too cool:TU: John
Amazing that Mike has that old flyer, we don't even have one anymore. the original car was run in 1968 as E/SA then again in 1969 in SS/EA, a new class that allowed modifications so we pulled the drive train, engine, th400 trans(modified to switch pitch) and the 4:30 posi rear-end and it has been stored ever since. This winter I tore it down and rechecked EVERYTHING put it back together and now what we need a body. I believe that the original car was sold to a friend of my fathers and later wrecked. It was pretty plain, all black, black interior, bench seat, column shift, manual steering, drum brakes(we thought that disks drug all the time), no radio or air of course. Posted more pictures and some time slips from 1968 on our website. The original car held the NHRA national record in E/SA for about a year, set here at 5,000 ft. at then Rocky Mountain Dragway. I have wanted to recreate this car for about 20 years and decided it was time, now or never!
