Wanna help with some numbers? i need some help decoding another block and manifold I am looking to purchase. The rear of the block says 455 and 1231738, between cylinder 5 & 7 it is stamped 4 FS 09. the Intake says 1231718 E. can anyone tell me what they were fron originally and/or what they are? Thanks i really appreciate it!
Jerry, Block looks like 1970 455, but I don't see the intake manifold casting # here: http://www.atlantabuick.com/CastingNumbers.htm
There may be an error in the copy . The last 2 should be a 1 for the intake. If that is true it was cast May 1970. Compare that with the build date on the cowl tag.
hit wrong keys SORRY I fixed the numbers, I checked the paper I wrote it on, It was late i must have been tired, sorry. What does the 4 SF 09 mean
SF is a 70 455 , it was put in everything else. 409 Should be the factory stampings of when the block was built.
