Shipping from Ontario to Denmark isn't really cheap.
I spoke with this bloke who did the same: The car was in Hamilton, ON and had to be transported overland to Montreal first, total costs to get it landed in DK were 3500 CAD.
Add the fact the Jan has to pay 19% tax over the purchase price + shipping costs (maybe even more in Denmark ?)

Doo Wop Where were you in '62?

Seafreight from Trenton (Canada) to Rotterdam (The Netherlands)
    $ 1750,00
    $

Destination charges (handling, unloading, Customs) in Rotterdam
    505,00

Exchange rate at 30% is a big help too, obviously.

But why am I telling you this? Just wanted to have an update from Jan.

There was no need for an interjection, now was there?

You forget to mention the price for that little wagon, plus adding the overland shipping costs from Rotterdam to Denmark :Smarty:

    CAD 1750 + 505 Euro = 1885.66 Euro for shipping.

If you want 7000 Euro for the car, you have to add 1330 + 358.27 (tax over purchase price and shipping costs) = 1688.27 Euro
    1885.66 + 1688.27 = 3573.93 Euro / CAD 4529.98
(without the shipping cost from Rotterdam to Denmark, and the costs of getting a Danish registration for the car)

Buying Rob's Estate Wagon will be a better option for Jan, just like he already mentioned in this thread.

If you meant something else there:

Send Jan a PM next time.
If you post something on a public board, you can expect a reply from other board members :TU:

    :pp

Let's see if Jan is going to buy your wagon.
If not, shipping from Canada is too expensive and that's exactly what I'm pointing out to you in a thread about shipping a Buick wagon to Denmark :TU:

By the way, Jan instructed you to use his e-mail address, maybe you have missed that ?

Easy guys, we are all friends in here:)

Korrie, I will give you a call about the car, have had a turbulent week with long workdays and a lot to see to when off work. I have been trying to get in contact again with the guy in Western MA that had a wagon like yours for $4500 because when I spoke with him it sounded like a real good deal, but I have not been lucky to get in touch with him again. He maybe got scared because I live over here.

Bad Boattail, You are right about the shipping cost, they do often kill a deal. On top of your calculation you can put an import tax of 37% instead of the 19% in Netherland!!!! I have before brought cars through Holland and the transportation from there to DK is around $8-900.
I have not heard back from Rob, he should check with a guy that has been chasing his wagon for years, so dont know if he has spoken with him.

Yes, but you only pay 19% when it's first shipped to the Netherlands, like in Korrie's quote :TU:
And I just read that it's already back to the former rate of 6% for older (30+ years) cars since the first of July of this year.

So you pay the tax in the EU country of landing, and after that you can take it to Denmark without further costs, apart from shipping it over the road.
