Nah... this is a NA cruiser, basically a dead reliable motor with enough muscle to move a heavy car with some authority. This is an idea for a good reliable, and for an old tank of a car, fuel effecient motor to be mated to the matching truck tranny and put into something old and big... say a 61 Buick LeSabre or Electra, man I loves those pointy fenders.
However for my High Tech 65 Riviera Trubo6 project it will be running a 256 V6 with a large GT wheeled and probably Ball Bearing turbo with a roller cam and rockers, custom forged pistons, a giant Ford Powerstroke Intercooler, and progressive alcohol injection. I'm shooting for 450hp on 93 and 600hp on alky out of the big 6.

I run at 9.6:1 (static), and I have a program that works well with 89 octane.

I have another program for 87 octane but I don't like to use it unless I have to. The only time I use 87 octane is when I'm on a long trip and I know I won't be getting on the gas (such as the trip to Bowling Green) for a few tankfuls, and by the time I'm at the track I have 93 back through the complete system.

BTW on the drive to the '01 Nats, I got 19.4 MPG and ran an 11.8 on drag radials.

Holley offers stand alone TBI fuel injection kits that are laptop programmable. They are called the Commander 950. They are 4 barrel TBI's with a square bore bolt pattern. They basically come complete minus the laptop and sell for $1300 - $1400 from Summit or Jegs. They will work with any type of ignition system or distributor as long as it is a 12 volt square wave signal. This is the best bang for the buck and there are 3 different systems offered depending on the horsepower level of the engine. There is a 900cfm kit that is good from 450 to 600 HP. They have been pretty reliable and it saves you $350.oo a pop on getting chips reprogrammed every time you change something in the engine.A couple of years ago Super Chivy magazine did a dyno comparison on all three of Holley fuel injection kits (TBI,StealthRAm, and MPI). The TBI only made 10 HP less than the other kits. I was impressed. Just thought I would add this to the mix!! See Ya! :Smarty:

chips are actually only about $269.00 for the chip and $50 a shot at reprogramming them. I know that the Holley system is an N-Alpha system which is great for WOT stuff but can struggle in the drivability category due to its over simplified input data set. I don't know if the factory TBI on a Chevy is an N-Alpha or Speed density or not but its still junkyard material vs off the shelf. Thanks for the idea though.

Megasquirt is speed-density normally but it can also do N-Alpha. I run one on my turbo V6 camaro but I've never used N-Alpha; speed density works great for me.

I do plan on converting a BBB intake to port EFI and running it with the megasquirt.

Holley makes a new tbi system for any 4 barrel modification. It includes computer, harness, and tbi; plus other items. Don't remeber if the pump is included or not.
Their first version of this system was not good. This is supposed to be a big improvement, but I have not seen one yet.
