I wasn't sure which section to post this but I'll post it here because anything posted in THE BENCH section gets pushed off the page and lost pretty quickly.

So this was posted on Facebook today. I've heard some say the car in the GM press photo was a pre-production car due to the timing of the release of the photo. Look at the trunk hinges on the car in the photo with the Cub Scouts. Does it look like the hinges are painted Saturn Yellow like the rest of the trunk or do they look like a different color, perhaps a gold car? Maybe it's just the lighting on the photo and they really are Saturn Yellow? Still a darn cool vintage GSX photo! I've asked the guy that posted these if he knows the date it was take.

Pretty incredible that someone had these photos of this particular car out in the wild, just being used like a normal vehicle. Same plate - 10M-240

Thats a manufacturers plate. "10M" was assigned to Buick.

Went back to my copy of "Buick- the v8 and v6 performance years" and found a few road test cars wearing 10M plates but not this exact number. One 70 wears an 11M plate...

When I was invited to “Buick’s Back To The Bricks” in Flint, Denny introduced me to his crew of engineers. Pretty sure that is one of there cars.
It was an incredible weekend. My car won the highest award presented by Dennis Manner himself.

There is a huge history with Buick and G.M. Dennis put on a program there…Buick started G.M.

As a side note, 13M was assigned to Shelby American

Buick used some different numbers on the Michigan manufacturer plates on the earlier years but all of the '70-'71 road tests and photos I could find with Michigan plates had 10M and 11M:

This would be great on the front of a '71 Buick GS:

    I saw that as well.

The OP mentioned his father was an engineer for Buick and the car was returned (to Buick) after a few thousand miles. He also said (he recalls) the interior being black, even though that headrest and dash pad look dark brown.

Definitely a cool story coming from out of nowhere, though. I hope his brother can offer some more insight.

Those photos must be faded something awful, unless those kids have a wicked case of jaundice..

    Cool story.

That car could’ve been the first GSX after Brad’s car when they realize they had an issue with the trunk hinges not being able to hold up the trunk with the new spoiler design because of the weight.

The interior could be black. It's tough to tell

Same thing I thought, guy joins the group and drops this photo as his first post in the GSX FB group. Probably the best 1st post ever.

He did post that in the past he had a nice Buick that John Stevens painted and he attended several GS Nationals events.

He posted this additional update. Another front spoiler bites the dust (or snow)! It sure would be cool to see a photo of the car at the Waterford Hills race course.

I bet that was a very common occurrence with GSX's.

@BUQUICK , I'd bet it was the same GSX that was displayed at the Chicago auto show with Brad's car. There are pics on the board of that car but I don't recall if the car had a plate on it.

We still need to run the 2 VIN's of GSX #1 and #2. Be interesting to see if they come back with any hits

Looking through my GSX photo collection and found other photos of a yellow GSX with license plate # 10M240.

This one isn't very clear so I can't confirm the plate number for sure:
