That's got to be Grumpy's 2nd pro stock Camaro. I have a pic of him with a '68 with an rs front clip. So this '69 might be the next in line. And Buster Couch, of course.
The Judd Speed Shop car had iron Stage 2's and ran at New England Dragway on occasion and at other tracks in the Northeast. It was owned by Tom Judd and it ran in the 9's. There is a picture of it in the 1974 or possibly the '76 Kenne-Bell catalog. Dennis
Guess that push car..... Guess that race car uzzled: Guess if the STARTER now has BACK PROBLEMS  Peace WildBill
The Chevelle is from my neighborhood. A friend who knows Ray Allen says that Ray was looking to get around $100,000 for it at the BJ auction. Guess he wasn't too dissapointed with the outcome. Truppi and Kling owned it when Ray was winning all those races. The push car looks like a '62 Invicta. The race car looks like an Angilia body on a rail chasis. Edit. The flagman is wearing PF Flyers.
I thought this was kind of cool... I just found this old picture from the net. I took pics of the car at BJ this past Jan, it was one of my favorite cars there. It went for big$$$ THEN: NOW:
Grumpy's 1970 pro stocker. I remember my first day at the drags (Atco) as a 12 year old back in 1962. There were three 409 Bel Air's there that day that were built and tuned by Grumpy, all NHRA national record holders and national champions. They were Dave Strickler's S/S "Old Reliable," Arnie Waldman and Joe Tryson's A/S "Northwind," and Gene Carter's 1961 B/S "Thumper." These cars were rocket ships. And there was a Buick that was an NHRA national champion and national record holder back in those days. It was a 1960 Invicta convertible, and it was owned and driven by a guy from Indiana named Russ "Big Daddy" Matthews. It ran in F or G/SA.
Droptop- Thanks for adding the personal experiences to these pictures, it really does add to the history:TU: Oh...and your old!!!
Does anybody know if the Judd Speed Shop Skylark on page 20 of this thread is still around? I'd like to know what condition it is in and where it is today?
Good question. There was some discussion about the Judd's car a few years ago: http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?p=73382 Devon
