Hi Guys- Passing this along. I saw this for sale on Craigslist and it caught my eye because I'd never seen one before. What year do you suppose this is meant to fit? https://raleigh.craigslist.org/pts/5582394695.html Thanks, Matt-
Not enough info. (Re: Vintage Buick Rooftop Luggage Carrier ) Dear Matt, yachtsmanbill, and V-8 Buick fans of longroofs, There isn't enough information to figure out what this once belonged to. With dimensions perhaps you could match it to available roof racks. At least to me it is kind of sad to see something like this. Obviously sometime in the past it was separated from the rack which it was intended to be used with. Unless it can be "reunited" with an appropriate rack, effectively it is either junk if you are pragmatist or a bit of American nostalgia if you are an incurable romantic. Either way it will never get to be used as intended again. Edouard
Board member "75riv" (Rob) has one for his model year 1972 Estate Wagon. But his one has the GM logo and not the Buick logo: <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dA9CKTb_4oc&hl=nl&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dA9CKTb_4oc&hl=nl&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Old thread on this board: gotta be the oddest buick item iv'e seen ! :Comp: Instructions for a Suburban: For sale on eBay: NOS GM 1974 1975 1976 1977 1978 STATION WAGON LUGGAGE RACK COVER VISTA CRUISER :Comp:
Great responses guys... very detailed and helpful. I'm not considering purchasing the item so anyone with interest can (I have no affiliation with the item or seller). I did talk with him however. He said he's "flexible" on price and for his answer on "How did you come across this?" he said it came from an old body shop (locally) that closed down a long time ago. The luggage carrier had apparently been up in the rafters for eons. Anyway thanks again for the details and additional photos.
That link will bring you back to this thread ou: Try this one :beer gotta be the oddest buick item iv'e seen ! :Comp:
Yes, but they did not use that logo for the earlier Chassis Service Manuals. So 1980 is still the first year :TU:
