Where would I find the vin stamped? My frame is really scaled up, and I'm sure its the original frame. Thanks, Tim
Tim, The VIN should be stamped into the top of the frame right around where the drivers door would be. How's the finger?
Thanks for the info, John. Its fine, but it just doesn't bend all the way anymore. What car did you end up replacing this body with?
I bought the one out of St.Louis. It is totally rust free and has never been cut on. Good deal but expensive.
I'll post a pic of my cornet gold car I just started on. Once you see it, you'll be glad you spent the extra $$$ for a clean one. :TU: Any pics of your's? What color combo and options?
I'll look for pics of yours in the future. I can post some pics of mine but I don't have any readily available. I haven't made the final decision on the color other than the inside will be black. I'm thinking Toyota performance red. It's a medium non-metallic.
Although anything is possible, I've had dozens of A-body cars apart for restoration and have never seen a VIN in this location. All of them I have found on top of the left rear frame rail above where the frame numbers are by the left rear tailpipe hanger.
My vin was stamped where the drives door would be. It was built the 3rd week of Oct. 69 if that makes a difference. Kraig
The frame of my 72 Stage 1 is around the DS door, the frame that the 70 GS 455 was on is in the same place.
tim i looked at mine the vin is on the top of the frame in the middle of the driver side door and the part number and date code is on the rear frame rail on the side
George, Each geographical area has a "home" Production facility assigned to it. For your neck of the woods, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, etc, Flint Mi. is the home plant and that is what you see from there. If you look at cars from other plants......................................... Duane
