I went and looked at it and I think it's just a Skylark with a GS hood and air cleaner. Can't find my  VIN book: VIN# 434371Z128768 Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=16124&item=2481706549&rd=1 Thanks in advance for the info. - Freed
With that crinkle in the back quarter, I would imagine any bondo filling the "Skylark" emblem holes would have disintegrated. IIRC from another thread, 434s are GS 350 cars in 1971. Someone correct me if I'm wrong! John
Thanks all! That's what I thought. By the way, the body looks worse in person. The guy said he'd take $500 cash, but I think I would be hard pressed to find $500 worth of usable body parts on the car. I like how the trunk floor is pre-cut for easy removal. Didn't drive it, but hey, it started right up, idles nice, and the carpet looked great. Tranny fluid smelled OK too. Said he also had a spare green dash that he bought for it. Make a good interior parts car if someone were restoring a green car, I guess. - Freed
I told the guy I would send him a note when I checked the VIN. I just did, so let's see if he fesses up on the auction. - Freed
Yep What he said. The car is a 71 GS, built in Fremont. What you cannot tell from the vin is the engine.ou:
I must be dense this morning (not enough coffee). He did list the car as a '71 GS BUICK SKYLARK COUPE'. What does he need to 'fess-up' about? o No:
Sorry, I mis-read the earlier post. Doing too many things at once last night while I was online. Nothing to fess-up about. My mistake. :error: ou: - Freed
So, he put it on e-bay. I looked at this car about 10 days ago. It was a piece so say the least. Told me it was a posi, but it definitely wasn't. It did sound good, but I never drove it. I too passed at his $500 offer. Hopefully the buyer will get some good use out of it. Jeff
