View Finder???

  1. I was browsing Ebay for buick stuff when I came across this item that was supposedly an aftermarket product common in the 40's and 50's. It some sort of view finder that mounts to the dash to improve your ability to see the tailights/headlights of other cars. I've never seen or heard of this. I don't think it's something I'm interested in for my car but I was wondering if anyone knew more about the view finder and could enlighten me.
The item number is Item number: 180112416574

The cars of the 40's and 50's had metal visors on the top of the windshield, these view finders were placed on the dash so one could see the traffic lights. They are still used today by many hot rodders that have chopped tops, it beats having to lean forward to see the traffic light.

  4. Thanks guys. That makes sense. It's not needed on my car so I won't be getting one. I'm just always on the lookout for those cool chrome accessories that were available back then. What I'm really trying to find is the chrome tissue dispenser. I saw one on Ebay, but it ended us selling for a bit more than I really wanted to pay. I'm going to post another thread asking about that. :beers2:
