I don't mean to upset or depress anyone as i know this could be a sensitive topic, but i was just wondering if anyone on the board besides me has had a relative that made the supreme sacrifice for our country? My dad's older brother (James)served with Co F. 180th Inf 45th Div in WWII. He was in almost constant combat from Oct `44 til April `45,then was wounded by a German sniper during the fight for Nuremburg,Germany April 18th `45,died from his wound the following day April 19th.He had just turned 20 on April 13th. I have been fortunate to become friends with 2 men that served with him,one was present the day he was hit and has visited with me several times. So atleast our family knows exactly what happened. Let's remember all those men and women that gave it all so we can be enjoying this BB..............
AMEN Brother:TU: :TU: I have an uncle that was a prisoner of war in Germany during WWII. Was so horiffic that he could not even bring himself to talk about and no one in the family even dared to ask. :beer To all those who gave for our freedom and way of life.
Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Thank-you Veterans for all you have done. We know you watch over us by day and by night. MIA's, you are never forgotten. Thank-you Corporal mom (WAC WWII) You answered the call. One lone bugler plays Taps. Day is done, gone the sun, From the hills, from the lake, From the skies. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh. Go to sleep, peaceful sleep, May the soldier or sailor, God keep. On the land or the deep, Safe in sleep. Love, good night, Must thou go, When the day, And the night Need thee so? All is well. Speedeth all To their rest. Fades the light; And afar Goeth day, And the stars Shineth bright, Fare thee well; Day has gone, Night is on. Thanks and praise, For our days, 'Neath the sun, Neath the stars, 'Neath the sky, As we go, This we know, God is nigh.
If you know a vet, thank him or her today for what they did (or do). Shake their hand or call them up to say thanks. We live in the greatest country and they protected our freedoms. I'm not a vet but my father is (WW II). It truely amazes me that holidays such as Halloween get more fanfare than Veteran's Day! If you are a vet, I appreciate you!
Thank you vets. maybe people would think of if differently if only veterans were given the day off...
