the standard belts had the large plastic buckels,no chrome.
these were used for the bucket seat only cars and were s/o only.

The chrome buckles were called "custom " and could be ordered on any of GM cars available with a bench, split-bench or bucket seats. The all black buckles were the standard belts. I believe:Do No: the large all plastic buckels were used up to 1969 and then they went to metal.

I don't think there was ever an S/O seat belt but the chrome custom buckels are very desireable...

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, I am just going by what I have seen over the years...

I helped pull a set of these out of an original 72 bench seat Skylark a few years back....so they aren't "bucket seat only" IMO. A board member here has them in his car and he saw the car they came out of also.

Also..as already mentioned and from what I have seen, the brushed or satin metal-top buckles are considered very desirable.

These are definitely cool as they have the small buckles and integral shoulder belt receiver in the lap belt, but you posted the link which "opened up" the subject for discussion.

Finally, standard belts typically did have chrome(at least by 1970)...the chrome underside/side portions of the buckle.

The Suncoupe is still as you last saw it . I am still saving money and looking for someone that can get the paint on the car without my having to sell my house :) Whats your work load out there , Busy?

The belts you have are the same as my Suncoupe that canme with bench seats . Thats why I have so many I have been buying sets to make sure I have the correct date codes in excellent shape for that car. If your not too busy and have my number call me or PM me if you need the number .
