Nice looking car. Obviously not an origional floor shift bucket seat car (unless the speedo has been changed out), valve covers say 350-2 so not likely to be numbers matching either. Still, seems like a fair price. On the plus side, the guy is willing to admit he is mistaken. Doesnt seem to know much about Buicks either, but atleast he did the research on the vin.
So has anyone told the seller that there has never been nor will be a Stage 2 GS 350? And the rest of the disappointing info about his RARE!! car.
?? All automatic cars used the same speedo with the gear indicator on them. Only the manual cars did not. If that's what you meant
wow, I have a bunch of Stage 2 350 engines then, if the 350-2 means stage 2. Hmm. Not a bad looking car though.
Was told that the factory console cars had "Fasten Seat Belt" scribed across the plate where the gear selection goes. Have seen it on many other Buick GS console cars as well. I allways use that as an indicator that it was origionally a column shift car because the console shifters never had a cable setup to change the gear indicator in the speedo to my knowledge. Am I wrong?
I am shocked that all you Buick Gurus are missing the most important point about this car. The seller states that he has obtained and is including in the sale the ever elusive " Complete Stage II Skylark Coupe Weather-Strip Kit" All joking aside, the car does look pretty decent.
Not wrong but misinformed. Starting in 72 on idiot light cars the fasten seatbelt light was inbetween the Gen and oil pressure warning lights at the bottom of the fuel gauge pod. On factory gauge cars it was in it's own little housing on the top center of the dashpad. All cars whether they be floor or column shift autos used the same tranny gear selector to column linkage, called the backrod that moved the shiftbowl on the column to both unlock the keyswitch and steering wheellock aswell as the afforementioned gear indicator. Manual cars had the same style backrod for the same reason but without the gear indicator in the speedo.
On Jan-08-11 at 19:51:50 PST, seller added the following information: "I have been informed from someone that clams to know a lot about Buicks and probably more then me that, there is no such thing as a 350 GS (stage 2). There is no question that it is a true 350 GS but what is in question is the Stage 2. I must admit I have no way of proving it is or is not a stage 2. Nor do I even know what a stage 2 is on such a car. I was told when I got the car that it was a stage 2. I have seen other 1972 Buick GS 350 Stage 2 cars for sale on the internet so I don’t know what to say about this. If any one know more info on the Buick Stage 2 please let me know. Thanks" This is the first so called Stage 2 350 car I have seen for sale online ever. He lists the information given to him by someone that knows better but still tries to lead people to the ideal that it possibly could be a Stage 2!
Also has the rare stage 2 radio and the stage two crager look alike rims...still the car is very nice...Ive seen to many of these i dont know alot about cars on the internet and they always try to pawn off some type of rare car...buyer be aware.
