Hi I was wondering if someone can help me, I recently rebuilt my 10 bolt rearend out of a 71 Skylark, put in posi, gears, etc.. and then painted it. I ordered the little plastic vent tube from opgi but it seems like it is too small for the vent hole. is there supposed to be like a rubber grommet that goes in the hole and then you push the vent tube into that?
    Thanks
    Todd

I ordered my vents from Ames and they fit in perfect. How much to big? Can you use a little RIGHT STUFF to hold it in place?

theres the .375" one and a larger .435ish one (the one on the BOP 8.5" rears)

The .375" ones are common, available about anywhere.

You might have to go to GM to get the larger ones. I have seen them on ebay once in awhile.

well it sorta looks like a nipple then a bigger round part and the a tiny nipple with a round cover on it. So I was assuming that the "bottom" nipple part was what was supposed to stick in the hole, but it is quite a bit too big the round collar which is half way up the nipple would fit in the hole with some persuassion, but is that how it is supposed to go? There isn't supposed to be a rubber grommet in there?

    GStage1 Always looking for parts!

You have the wrong one....you just put them over the hole and tap them in with your hand or the end of a plastic screwdriver handle....get the right part....contact Monzaz here on the board...he should have them by the box full since he rebuilds rear axles.

Well common sense should have told me to do that to begin with since I bought the posi and gear set from him hahaha
