How hard is this, is there a problem with the replacements staying on? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Mike

I always run a drill into the back of them just a size or two larger than the pull shaft and then epoxy them on. Never had one come off.

Thanks Bill. How do you remove the originals from the pull shaft?

Cut the originals in half longways with a hacksaw.

I break them off with a vice grips pliers

A little heat with a heat gun and they will pull off easily.

Are they press fit originally or molded on?

The problem with most of them is they are not easy to press on, particularly if the kick panels are still in the car. It's a little easier if everything is apart and you can clamp the cable shaft in a vice, but still, I've broken a few of them in my earlier years of restoring so I decided to alter my methods of installing them.

Where do you get new knobs?

EBay has them for $12 shipped.
