    Yihaa.. (back again)

Any of you "Riviera guru's" know if a leaking Exhaust Manifold Shut off Valve is a standard problem and if so.. What is the proper procedure of fixing it??

And finally, I'm having trouble replacing the "rear end power windows" of my Riviera..
How do you solve the "problem" of replacing it without taking apart the entire "window Structure"
Mounting bolts versus the window regulator issues in particular..:(
    Enlighten me ,please.. :):beer

If you talking about the heat riser on the exhaust. id say other than the annoying tick tick tick noise it wont hurt a thing. It really shouldn't be leaking. You may have a crack in your manifold or the bolts aren't tight.
As far as the rear sail Windows don't know. never had to take one apart. A Chaise manual or body manual for that year will have all the info you need to figure it out.

The complete procedure for adjusting or removing the rear window glass is covered in the '66 Chassis manual.
You must remove the lower rear seat and all the side panels to gain access to the window mounts and window stops.
Just follow the step by step procedure detailed there.
A noisy or leaking heat riser can be removed and replaced with a spacer if you choose, or a new heat riser unit and new gaskets to stop the leak. The bi-metalic spring should have sufficient tension to keep the valve from rattling, and the valve should move freely in the heat riser body. :TU:

Old mechanics trick; to stop a leaking ball socket type exhaust manifold/exhaust pipe joint.... loosen the joint, inspect any gaskets involved, and replace if neccessary,,,,then before tightening for the final time,, come down the exhaust pipe about 2 in. and heat the pipe cherry red all the way around,,, then while it is still bright red, do the final tightening...works wonders.

    Hi guys..

I have both the Body and Chassis manual for this car..
My "problem" with the power window is that you have to "lower" the window regulator in order to be able to remove all three mounting bolts securing the power window motor onto the regulator, and then "refitting" is a pain, due to tension or something..

As for the exhaust, I haven't been able to check my manifold just yet, badly rusted bolts etc,etc..

    But thanks alot for "pointers"

It turned out to be a leaking gasket between the manifold and the heat riser causing the leak i had.. :) Easy enough to fix..:)
