Not if anyone cares, but VH and Sammy are supposed to make it official on Friday :beer John http://kdkb.com/listingsEntryHeadline.asp?ID=192708&PT=What+is+happening!
I liked Sammy Hagar, and I liked Van Halen. But I HATED Van Hagar though. I have all the vynal and some cassettes still though. If they give it another shot, I'll buy it. Hopefully we'll get a glimse back to some good r & r . Be a nice change to the cussing that is the norm now...............Lately I have been listening to more and more country music. After all I am the 'hillbilly'' ,lmao........... later...................
no meaning to offend if you are a fan of Van Olden, and Sammy "senior citizen" Hagar, but they were fun once, in 1979. most people who listen to what passes for rock and roll now days were not even born yet the first time they 'retired' :ball: i could give them creedence for their reunion if they play new material. rehashing old bands dont do a thing for me. chances are if i liked them i have the original recordings. fleetwood mac, reo speedwagon, styx, allman bros. lynard skynard, how about those crazy guys in great white? it is all just really sad. the saddest thing i have ever seen is a wrinkly, skinny, old john kay and his latest version of steppenwolf trying to play "born to be wild"ou: this just last year at the county fair. i guess i gotta wish them luck:boring:
I'm with Buickdav; I liked them separately, but not together. Though they produced some good stuff, the didn't have the energy or the feel.
Yep,, apart. Although they did have some great music together, their best was seperately. Hagars' "standing Hampton" is one of my all time favorites.:TU:
I liked both Van Halens. Took a little getting used to but once Van Hagar grew on me I liked it. Just a different sound. I've always said that they're letting the boat pass them by as so many other '70s rockers were touring making some good money.
This will proberly be a one record deal, so that VH can forfill their record deal with WB. Then they will split and ED will pass on to r&r heaven. Cancer ya know.
Way back when i first heard about Vanhagar i thought it was going to be incredible, i was a bit disappointed when i heard it. I am one who loves modern alternative rock and dont wish to listen to the same music i listended to in the late 70-80's. But i do hope they do it and put their hearts in it.
Diamond Dave is great. He is not what he used to be. I will not compare the two VH, how can you? As I grew older Sammy fit my tastes in R&R. I have all the VH stuff, but almost never listen to it anymore. I am looking forward to new stuff, especially with Sammy. Just thought I would share, responses were what I expected. Sammy is far from old. Sammy has had at least four new CDs since VH. He will not sit by and play old stuff. That is why they split. Eddie "had" cancer of the tongue. John
You know it Andy... Love that CD.. I have worn out a couple of them.. I liked both incarnations of VH, but I looked at it a different way.. With DLR it was an orginal deal, and a good sound, very fitting for the times... With Sammy, I just considered it Sammy Hagar (Who I liked) with a MUCH better backup band. That was what I expected, and I was not dissapointed. I would love to seet them live again. And for the record leaving VH was the worst thing DLR did for his carreer.. IMHO.. Did get a chuckle out of the video for his remake of the Beach boys "California girls".. But it's been downhill for him since. JW
That's an 'interesting' analogy Jim!!:Brow:  Kinda like calling the Yankees starting 9 'some ball team'!!p :TU: I agree with your analysis of DLR though.......gotta admit - he did have some funny videos after going out on his own. "My doctor says I have to take a laxative......not in MY store you don't"!!! Yankee Rose was pretty decent 'back in the day'......haven't heard much about it in a LONG time though. His version of California Girls was a classic!! That video probably made the Beach Boys jealous.:Brow:
As a guitarist, myself, I say: "Without Eddie Van Halen, David Lee Roth is JUST a Singer, and ONLY a Singer!":Smarty::grin: The joining of TWO Classic Rock GUITAR Legends, Eddie Van Halen and Sammy Hagar, belong TOGETHER!:Smarty::bglasses: Speaking of Classic Rock Legends, I got to meet Dennis DeYoung of STYX, tonight, as I was sitting Front Row at a local concert! (He gave me an autographed CD, I shook his hand and Thanked him!:bglasses: )
Oh, Scott, that reminds me. I went to an oldies concert with my parents last weekend & got an autograph from Johnny Rivers. A few weeks ago, at the Rock Hall here in Cleveland, I got to see Les Paul. That was great!
"I was at an Alice Cooper thing once, and 7 people were rushed to the hospital with bad vibes." Woody Allen from Annie Hall
How about "Hot for Teacher"? Didn't that intro make you think of a BIG cam motor. Sweet car in the video too. www.Van-Halen.com has tour dates John
