I've found a KB streetmaxi cam for my '71 Riviera 455 and need to know what valvetrain mods I'll need to run it.

    street maxi three specs:
    lift: 510/534
    dur@.050: 232/260
    112 lobe center

I'll be running stock exhaust manifolds, 2.5" exhaust with minimal mufflage, a 2x4 intake and this cam.

    Suggestions?:Do No:

I used dual springs , 430 rockers, good pushrods . The one I used was a bullet racing cam,, same duration and lobe sep, but mid .500 lift. You could use the thicker TA shafts, don't use the sealed power replacement shafts, they are way too thin, the stock shafts are stronger.
Of course you could use roller rockers, but since the lift is not all that high, stock rockers will be fine. Jim Burek

    How does it sound? :)

So no binding, bending, or breakage at these lifts?

It idled at 750 to 800 with 13 inches of vac, nice sounding lope, nothing radical. Jim Burek

Stock springs will bind with .534 lift. Better to upgrade.

    71 Riviera...

If it's not a GS, then the stock springs are rated at about 72-78# seated. That's when they're new out of the box.:)

How do you go about using a 430 rocker on a 455 head?

I simply use hollow 455 style pushrods and oil the rockers backwards. Jim Burek
