Valve Covers, Valley Cover, Q-Jet Intake??? Hey Guys, What year(s) Valve Covers were plain with no holes in them for things like breathers or pvc? Also what year(s) Valley Cover had the oil fill tube (spout) in it? And will the Q-Jet Intake fit with a Valley Cover with the oil fill tube (spout)? Thanks! boway Hey Guys, I guess I should give more detail. I have a '66 425 with Q-Jet. I like the look of the early Valve Covers with no breather or pvc. I assume to use them I would need the Valley Cover with the fill tube and breather. So will they work on my 425? And if so what years were they used? Thanks! boway
If you're running a valley cover with an oil fill spout, what year? what cubic inch? If it's anything but a 401/425, the intake won't fit - the deck height is shorter on the 264, 322, 364 blocks so the Q-jet intake is too wide. Don't know about the other items.
1953 through early 1955 had the oil fill in the valley cover (322 & 264). Late (spring) 1955 oil fill went to the valve covers (322 & 264). All 53-56 valley covers had a draft tube at the rear of the valley cover.(322 & 264) I don't know about the later engines (364, 401, 425)
If you do it right ,,, you can install a pcv valve in the valley cover for a ''cleaner'' look.... but ,,, the pcv system is far better for your engine than the road draft system... it keeps the oil cleaner , and if it is set up right , actually makes for a ''negative pressure situation'' inside the crankcase so there is less oil leaks.....
mmmmmm...... I think you'll have to go aftermarket to get a spread bore (QJ) for the engine that valley cover fits. (264 or 322) This is a question for Tom , John or Doc......
Hey Bulldog, Russell Martin sells a grommet and pcv valve that goes where the down draft tube would go. I plan to do that to mine. boway
