Ok here i go again asking something stupid but im getting the hang of it i think... my chasis book dosent say so here goes.... my valve cover gasket kit came with 4 round rubber gromets or washer type deals right..(for the 4 bolts that holds cover on) orginally i did not have any on there. do i still install these?? I gather IF i use them they go on cover b4 i put the wire holder bracket or heater hose bracket on the bolt so its sealing against the metal of the cover but wanted to be sure to use them since there were not any on it to start with hunting thru book for torque value on the cover bolts waitin on replies on the rubber dealiebobs yes dealibobs is the technical term for them:laugh: thanks again everyone:TU:
The torque on the valve covers is measured in INCH pounds. Not much over hand tight. I'll go out at mine and take a look at the dealiebobs, to see where they go. ( i guess as you, that the dealiebobs go against the valve cover). :error: 3-5 ft lbs is correct
As you read in this other thread the correct answer is; 3-5 ft lbs http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=15176
FWIW-the full gasket set should include 6 of these washers as the other 2 are used on the valley cover bolts-good luck
cool deal.. yea they were in there. also for the valley cover. :TU: trying to get the torque sequence for the intake manifold at the moment... i found that its 30ft pounds for final torque but not sure of the order or if you have to torque in steps like 10 15 30 etc?? thanks gor all the help everyone shes lookin good:laugh:
Your Buick Chassis Manual is your friend. I found that out when I did my '66 Heads, timing set, water pump,,,etc.
