an anybody point me to a listing for the correct part numbers (stamped in the valve covers) for a 70 Stage 1? Steve Dove's Performance Engine book lists 1233422 and 1233423.

A pari on e-bay is listed as off a 70 GSX Stage 1 with numbers 1242782 and (this doesn't make sense) 1242703.

    I've got 1232069 and 1232069 on mine?

Sorry if this has been covered before.

    Valve Cover #'s

    Pete,

Do a search under valve covers on this site. this was addressed awhile back and someone posted the correct #'s. I belive that the 1232069 are correct but my memory isn't what it used to be.

    Good luck,

    Larry

    Larry:

Found it. It is "Stage 1 Valve Cover Question" posted by n2Buick on 2/8/2002.

Looks like 1232068 and 69 are correct for 70 455's (Stage 1 and non-Stage 1). This is consistent with what i see on my verified Stage 1 and my GS455 convert.

    Thanks for the tip.

    Yep

Your's were painted. The ones on ebay are prolly correct for 73 and up. 70-72 stage 1 are the 1233422 & 3, not sure about 69.

Well, that contradicts what the other post says so I don't know what to think. Dove's book lists the numbers you say are correct.

    What?

    1233422 & 3 = 70-72 (Stage 1 ONLY)

    1232068 & 9 = 70-72 (455) , IE painted RED.

    Does that help?:Do No:

I understand that. You're just saying one thing and the guys on the other post are saying another.

Not saying you're not right. My covers may very well not be original, but I have no reason to believe the engine isn't original.

I was just looking for a source.

    Thanks for the help.

    I'm RIGHT!

They are in my catalog, probably in my assembly manual too, but most importantly, they are on my engine. Now if I only had a car ready for the engine.:ball:

If you do a search, it has been covered before (several times). In fact, someone when to all the trouble of listing each # for each year!:3gears: It is only trivia anyway, the covers are identical with 2 exceptions, the numbers & coating.:bglasses:

Thank you Dan and Steve. And Dan, if you noticed, I DID do a search. That is how I came up with the prior post I was referencing, but that was the only one I found.

    Sorry.
