Need some suggestions on where to get valve cover and valley pan gaskets for my 401. Also, plain cork or o No:? And what else should I look at or for while doing this? Thanks in advance. William
I get mine from NAPA. The old Victor Renz number for the valley cover, which is called a pushrod cover, is PS38525. The Victor Renz number for the valve covers is VS38122. These are both cork, which is what I prefer to use over rubber. I have used silicone sealer many times on the valley cover. How many times is it going to be removed unless your racing. They will probably cross the valve covers over to the new Fel-Pro number which is VS11381 which is rubber. I don't believe they have a crossover number for the valley cover. Tom T.
Thanks for the help everyone. Finally got an older guy at Napa to give me a hand with the provided part numbers. Those 17 year olds behind the counter at Napa had no idea how to help me. If it aint in the computer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, .
Thats the exact same experience I have around middle tennessee....no one opens a book...if it aint in the computer...they "dont make such a thing", or...a what? whatsa nailhead.?
Well, Ghooy, You gotta do like i do here in Lawrenceburg,,,, walk in and say, I am your worst nightmare,,,,, and I aint leaving untill you find my part..... then just stand there with people lining up behind you.....
Doc, I'm the same way. I'm 18, and it ticks me off to no end the these young punks, yes the same age group as me dont know what anything other than a 350 Chev or Honda 4 banger is. Many of my high school friends figured that I had a 350 in 64 Electra... :blast:
Look for a parts man with white hair,,,, if he doesnt know at least he will put more effort into searching for you....:Brow: :Brow:
I got mine from Advance and it was a FelPro cork unit, took around 2 weeks to get though. The valve cover gaskets I don't remember enough about to say what they were but they were another FelPro piece from Advance.
