    Hello All
Im having a slight problem with my T-400, Its been like this since I bought it but now is getting anoying and would like to fix it.

When I put it in gear and take off, it takes a high RPM for it to shift to second, when it shifts to second it shifts hard! it then goes right into 3rd
Instantly. Its not slipping, when I place it into drive from park it engages kind of hard but not abnormal. Im not sure if there's a shift kit intalled or what has been done to this tranny. I'm suspecting the Modulator Valve but would like to get some opinions from the experts from this forum. Thanks Jeremy

Maybe a leak in the vac modulator line running down to the trans from the intake? The rubber jumper hoses on each end can leak with some age, making the modulator think you've got your foot in it. Modulator valve sticking might be a good guess as you mentioned, too. Could be the modulator and governor circuits aren't getting along.

I confess I haven't dealt too much with the automatic functions for a long time since going manual with my ST400.
