Does anyone know the current market value of a 1970 Stage 1 distributor, part number 1112016? I haven't seen any for sale recently so I have nothing to go on.

    Thanks in advance.

I think it will take several hundred to buy one on the open market unless you just run up on one whose owner does not realize what it is.

    That's a '71 Stage 1 distributor, also a 455 manual trans distributor. I'm interested, if you're selling.

Not sure what a price would be, but please put me in line! I need one for my GSX resto as my distributor is not correct. I traded the original in as a core twenty seven years ago. :Dou:

The '70 Stage 1 number would be 1111962.

The 1111962 is a 69 Stage 1 unit. The 70 should be 1112016 as stated. Possibly some early 70's had the 1111962 but most should have the later as it has provisions for the point shields that were not used in 69.

    Ken a 70, 71 and I think a 72 are all the same number--2016. The number you reference is for a 69 stage 1, 400.

1112016 is correct for at least up to 73 for Stage 1 and 4 speed cars. Am pretty sure 74 may have gone to the electronic distributor for the Stage 1, but don't quote me on that.

    Hey Mark-

How's it going? I got my info from the Steven Dove facts and figures book, page 96.

'69 he lists as 1111335, no stage 1 specific number called out.

'70 ans '71 are listed as I stated above. Misprint you thinks?

Yes his later Book has it correct. The Master Parts Book is 2016. Our 70 Stage 1 GSX is 2016.

    Hi Ken,
Going ok, but had to miss Cecil cty :af:
Some things were missed in that book. The 1111335 is the 400/430 non Stage 1 units. The 1111962 was the Stage 1 piece (and what came in my car). It used the same pieces as the 1112016 except for the base plate which had drilled holes for point shields that were used to prevent static for the window antenna. In 69, the antenna was still on the fender and 70+ was in the windshield.
Would like to know how many cars still have those shields in place.
Gotta kid Carl on that one to see just how ORIGINAL his car was restored to. :Dou:

Ok, thanks for the correction. I'll have to pick-up a later version of the book. I have the 1992 copyright book.

I'm still interested, sounds like it is still correct for my application.

    Hey Mark-

    You do judge concours...

Do you think Carl will mind if you start ripping parts off his motor to check during the next competition???

Ken, I did the same thing you did 25 years ago...turned in the original distributor for another with the improper date code. When restoring the prototype, I searched for the proper date coded 2016 distributor. Remember, my car was built the 1st week of September 1969. Ever try to find a 1970 Stage 1 distributor (#2016) built BEFORE the 1st week of September 1969? It was NOT easy, believe you me. And this was in 1994, BEFORE the internet really took off!! I found one, but it was not easy.

As an aside, the replacement distributor (with correct 2016 numbering) is used in the 1985 GMC tilt-rollback with the 455 Stage 1 as the powerplant. It has a 1972 date code, so it would not be correct for your application.

    Brad-

One didn't even think twice about it way back when. The car was only 6 years old when I turned in that core. I gave no thought to numbers, no one really did. I'm guessing you did the same thing.

OK, so I'm looking for a 1112016 distributor with a date code appropriate for the '71 model year for a car built the last week of January. I'm imagining that would be easier to find than one built before September '69! :Dou:

    Have a great day! :)

Speaking of date codes... how do you interpret a code of 9K3?

    Brian,

I'm going to venture a guess and say 9 is the ninth day of (K) November, 73....

I'm sure someone else will chime in but I think that's how it's broken down.

Nope, 1969 is first. K= October (am fairly sure they didn't use the letter "I" as it would look like a 1) and 3 is the 3rd.

No Ken, I don't mind if Mark starts ripping my motor apart for concours. Hey,I got the original distributor(1112016) and the original carb(7040246) and the original block(SS)and the original trans(BB) and the original rear-3.64(OO). :)

You certainly know I wouldn't butcher my car, especially goin' through all the many, many $$$$$ that I pumped into my Stage 1.

To answer the question: If the condition of the distributor is very good,I would say it would be at least $400-$500.

    Carl,
Only kidding here. The shield was the first thing to go at tune up time. It was a real pain to put back on and it tended to trap heat in the point area. Somewhere I have (I think) 2 sets of shields stored away.
If concours ever gets that crazy that the judges start checking for things at that level, the hobby is in serious trouble. :Dou:
Ken and I were just joshing you.
