Im thinking of running a vacuum pump for my brakes, I don't think the motor will pull enough vacuum to run them. Im wondering what the minimum amount of vacuum is needed for the brakes to work properly.

I believe 10" is bare minimum.

When I had the 413 cammed motor in BigRed, brakes were marginal. I installed a vacuum can and it took it from one good shot to 2 or 3. I learned NOT to pump the brakes ..

.. If I were in that situation again, I'd probably switch to manual brakes before I'd trust one of those vacuum pumps. Im my mind, thats a band-aid that will most likely fail at some point .. probably (according to Murphy) when you need it most
