I bet you guys will know a thing or two about these.

I just found a 68 Riviera for parts and got the "working" vacuum power trunk & release button out of it. (see pic)

I have no use for it and will be putting it on ebay but would like to know more about it first. (helps to know what your selling!)

Is this a Buick only item? What other years?

I can't find much on these anywhere. The few I found on ebay look a little different.

Any info is greatly appreciated. :)

The vacuum trunk release was used up until 1969, from '69 up it went to electric. On some models it could be ordered from the factory (Riv) and on others it was a dealer installed item. It was available on all GM models.

If you have the complete car you should collect the rest of the parts like the vacuum canister, hose mounting clips and the part the goes into the trunk lock. If you get a complete system it will be worth 5x the amount than just the 2 parts you have listed.

Thanks Mike. I can get the rest but not sure where that vacuum tank is located?

    Vacuum Tank

The vacuum tank is located under the rear of the left front fender and would be a real PITA to remove ! Anybody that needs this trunk unit probably already has the vacuum source. The hose from the glovebox to the rear deck lid would be nice to have, and is fairly easy to pull - bear in mind, it's almost 38 years old ! The flat metal piece from the lock cylinder to the trunk actuator is also needed to have a complete set up along with the mounting bolts.
Sent you a pm about other parts. :beer :TU:
