where is this vacuum advance stop bushing suppossed to be mounted?

I don't think that my distributor has one and what are the possible effects of not having it?

You have to disassemble the distributor to install the bushing. Itis under the advance plate.

If you are talking about the advance stop bushing, it mounts on a pin that rides in a small curved channel under the advance weights. They are usually included in an advance spring kit(brass). It's tight, but I've managed to install them with the distributor in the car. A little dab of epoxy will hold it on for good. That bushing has nothing to do with vacuum advance, it limits the mechanical advance only.
