Hi, I'm new here but have been reading through the forums quite a bit. I originally posted in the "Wet behind the ears" forum, but didn't have much luck, but was directed here. I have a very low miles (31,000) 76 Regal that I love, but it is a bit underpowered as it came stock with a 231 2Bbl. I located a wrecked 1980 Buick Park Avenue that has a recently rebuilt (and slightly modified) 350 Buick engine with a rebuilt TH400. I have read here that the crossmember on my 76 will have to be swapped out to be able to use the dual exhaust that came on the Park Ave. I know I will have to have a muffler shop redo the exhaust but it is almost new, and includes Walker cats, and stainless Magnaflow mufflers. I have been searching the local wrecking yards for a crossmember, but no luck yet. Does anyone know if the crossmember on the 80 would fit the 76? It has already been modified. Otherwise I guess I will have to have the other one done. I emailed Sean Buick 76, and he told me that using the TH 400 may cause some problems as well, so I guess I will use the TH350 that's in there now, but I guess if I want to use my 350, then the 80 crossmember won't work, as it was for the TH400. Any suggestions or information regarding the work that needs to be done would really be appreciated. Also, the 350 engine from the Park Ave. was bored 40 over when it was rebuilt. I know that's about the max for a Chevy 350, but I'm not sure if it's the same on a Buick motor. Do you think I might end up with overheating issues? What would the CU.IN. be for a 40 over 350?
    Shel

    alec296 i need another buick

40 over is ok most of the time,if it wasnt overheating already dont worry
the radiators should swap im pretty sure they are the same
the exhaust should fit for the most part maybe slight mods you could do mostly yourself
crossmember is a maybe ,some of the newer setups have a large set of holes
and 2 rubber isolaters so it may work but you might only get 3 bolts to line up as i have done some similar stuff
use v6 mounts or remove the frame stands frome the 80 and bolt to your
car and them bolt is.the front springs may also work which you might need
i like the 350 trans myself as you adjust the cable right you can get a downshift anytime you want and the 400 is electric ,not really that quick to downshift unless done manually(same the gaspedal/switch setup anyways)
keep the 400 driveshaft for the trans yoke and might even fit(measure)
the rear springs will give the back some lift and will fit for sure
you can use brackets form either car for alt/ps but use the whole set dont mix and match
    i suggest a 2200 convertor(stall) and 3.08-3.23 gears or 3.42s if you want alittle more kick:TU:
good luck ,should be a fun ride
